The Oath of Vengeance is a solemn commitment to punish those who have committed a grievous sin. When evil forces slaughter helpless villagers, when an entire people turns against the will of the gods, when a thieves' guild grows too violent and powerful, when a dragon rampages through the countryside—at times like these, paladins arise and swear an Oath of Vengeance to set right that which has gone wrong. To these paladins—sometimes called avengers or dark knights—their own purity is not as important as delivering justice.

The tenets of the Oath of Vengeance vary by paladin, but all the tenets revolve around punishing wrongdoers by any means necessary. Paladins who uphold these tenets are willing to sacrifice even their own righteousness to mete out justice upon those who do evil, so the paladins are often neutral or lawful neutral in alignment. The core principles of the tenets are brutally simple.

Fight the Greater Evil. Faced with a choice of fighting my sworn foes or combating a lesser evil, I choose the greater evil.
No Mercy for the Wicked. Ordinary foes might win my mercy, but my sworn enemies do not.
By Any Means Necessary. My qualms can't get in the way of exterminating my foes.
Restitution. If my foes wreak ruin on the world, it is because I failed to stop them. I must help those harmed by their misdeeds.

Biography

Vengeance is Ash'm's embodiment of relentless justice. With terrifying speeds, she renders scapes futile; once she lays hands upon her enemies, her wrath knows no bounds. With each strike of her blade, they leave long-lasting violent wounds that cripple and impede movements. She shackles her enemies down in chains of terror, paralyzing their every move. Her battlefields become theatres of horror, her relentless pursuits drains hope from her adversaries, ensuring none shall escape her retribution. She takes great pride in her work, gleefully destroying those who she deems fit for her wrath; she is also known among her people and enemies as The Butcher.

Past

As a child, Vengeance lived in a seemingly peaceful town that was closed off from most of the cities and towns found in Ash'm. It was nestled away in one of the forests to the north, where many demons and fiends lie in wait to steal any wanderers away. People who knew about this town (which is very little to none) always wondered how they lived in such a place without much harm to their citizens.

The answer to that was found out when Vengeance as drugged, beaten, and tied up; hoisted upon a large wooden cross. Her mother told Vengeance that she was only birthed and kept alive to this very moment to be sacrificed to the monsters around her so that they can be left, an old agreement between the town and the monsters that's been in affect for multiple decades. All Vengeance could do was scream and cry, until something snapped within her. Everything in her vision went black and hazy, and the next thing she knew is she was surrounded by the dead bodies of several monsters, and the people she called friends and families while her hands gripped onto a broken and splintered piece of wood drenched in blood.

After sitting in silence, for what it felt like ages, she was approached by Pope Crowle and taken to Ash'mvale since a little girl shouldn't be left alone in such a state. She was soon announced as Ash'm's new Vengeance of The Seven.

Current

Vengeance often works solo, sent out on missions to hunt down certain criminals, or monsters. She's rarely seen with the other members of The Seven on the battlefield on a day to day basis. If she has no outside duties to attend to, she is often seen at the Abyssal Keep, keeping most prisoners in check. Some say she is a very persuasive.

Notes

  • Her name is Aurora Moonlight.
  • Has an affinity for singing, mostly lullabies. She has a habit of singing them as she does her work.
  • Gardens on her free time, but it's mostly plants that can survive on a windowsill since she doesn't have the time or space for a large garden.
  • Her wardrobe mostly only contains white clothes. She likes to stand out. She judges the quality of her work by how much her white clothes get stained with blood- the more the better.
