Ash'm

Common Races: Human, Elf, Celestis, Manikin, Shifter, Vampire
Religion: Ash'm

Directly south of the Northern Realm, Ash'm is a gothic area that exudes an aura of grandeur and antiquity. Along with its foreboding appearance, Ash'm carries great wealth and prosperity and the heart of Ash'm lies a Church that serves as the peoples' beacon. Ash'm is theocratic with Lucien Crowle, an elven man, being the current Pope that holds power within the Firelight Church which worships the god, Ash'm.

Overview

History

When Ash'm was a godless land filled with aberrations, beasts, undead, fiends, and anything similar lived a Godless King. Pope Crowle was the one who laid siege towards this land to stop this Godless King, and end his life. However, with the final breaths of the Godless King, he cursed this land with the Scourge, making sure it's never free from the rifts' grasps.

Godless King and his Reign

It is said he had ruled the lands of Ash'm, and all the monstrous inhabitants that populated it back then, making life hellish for people that dared to even attempt to live and thrive in Ash'm. Pope Crowle was the one that rose up and fought against the Godless King. The Godless King was an unkillable foe, and Pope Crowle had to find means to trap the Godless King in a nightmare realm, chaining him with powerful bindings and imprisoning him so he can never escape. In the final moments, before he got locked away, the Godless King cursed the land with the Scourge, which keeps the line between the surface and rift thin and decaying always.

Establishment of Ash'mvale

Ash'mvale and its iconic Firelight Church was further established after the victory against the Godless King. The Firelight Church is a testament that recognizes the waves of the outerworld beings that plague Ash'm's lands. Ash'mvale is seen as a beacon of hope among the rifts and the horrors brought in to this land. To this day, Ash'mvale still struggles for existence among this plague.

Automata Manufacturing Boon

A collaboration between Pope Crowle and Pierre Rousselle (the Rheimien King, before its collapse) to create semi-sentient, and smart mechnical humanoids capable of whatever could be programmed into it. This creation has bolstered the defenses and military of Ashm'vale, but also helped with its manual labor workforce. Automata work under strict moral rulesets set by the city and manufacturer, though there are rumors of some malfunctioning and going against such rulesets.

Explore

Ash'mvale (Capital)

The capital city with an outer and inner section. The outer section is populated by man fertile plains, it is common for farmers to live here. Ash'mvale has a large variety of farms and vineyards. While the inner section is the actual more gothic-like city filled with distinctive districts and many-storied buildings.

Ash'mvale has a robust education system from mathematics, literature, history, and religion. Most people that graduate from their schooling system often stay in Ash'm to teach elsewhere, or go abroad and tend to get hired on the spot.

Bloodgood

Functions like a 'checkpoint' before Ash'mvale. It's more like a military outpost with large walls that stops anyone or anything from breaching.

Amsonia

Port city. One of the more culturally diverse areas in Ash'm. Large variety of markets, sellers, and people coming over here. Some may stay in Amsonia, some may try to travel to Ash'mvale to see the wonders of the capital city. This is another 'checkpoint' like area before Ashm'vale that is also heavily guarded by Ash'mvale's military forces.

Wisteria

Small fishing settlement by the Asterid Bay. It is close to a cavern entrance of the Achemilla Peaks that people have been trying to travel through for years to see if they can make it out on the other side.

Brunnera

Small settlement up by a cliffside. Has a great view of the Asterid Bay, Ilex, and the Flyhst Wilds.

Ilex

Small port settlement. Doesn't really take in many foreign ships like Amsonia because there's no way to get to Ashm'vale from Ilex anyway, unless they want to cross the Asterid Bay for some reason

Haven

Hidden within the Flyhst Wilds lies Haven, a city built up by supernaturals. A city where lycanthropes, vampires, shapechangers, ghosts, ghouls, and such can live in peace without needing to blend in the crowd or being hunted by people who have the wrong idea of them.

R Sector

An unmapped prison island owned by Ash'mvale. R stands for Revenant, because R Sector is known for the scary amount of Lunar Revenants, large skeletal creatures that are unseen by the naked eye, that loom over buildings, important landmarks, and mountains.

Lyern is a port town on the edge of R Sector. It is very small, and is heavily guarded with inquisitors, guards, bounty hunters, and the like who tend to hunt undead since R Sector has an unnatural population of undead due to the Lich that lives here.

Factions

Ash'm Order of the Seven

A group of notable holy knights. Each one represents and encompasses their entire life and being: Devotion, Redemption, Conquest, Ancients, Crown, Glory, and Vengeance.

Malach's Angels

In the dark recesses of the Bleak District, These living automata, imbued with an unprecedented level of sapience or perhaps hatred have risen to challenge the fate to which they have been cruelly consigned. Led by a figure known as Malach, they seek annihilation of organic life.

Symbiosis

A radical group of druids devoted to nature and to become 'one' with it in the most real sense of the word. They've butchered and mastered a newer type of magic meant to mend and manipulate bones to sever their own limbs and replace them with fragments of the natural world. To become “awakened symbiotic entities”, something others would decry as aberrations, they graft one or multiple limbs to their body. Deer hind-legs replace their own, tree branches take over their arms, and the most devoted and zealous replace their head with that of an animal.

Eclipse

A group of protectors. A group of hunters. They guard Haven, taking advantage of their heightened senses and supernatural prowess to make sure the ones who hunt them become the hunted instead. Many individuals of Eclipse were either abandoned and found within the Wilds, adopted then trained. They were born and raised in Haven and wanted to contribute to protecting their kind. Sometimes, they were monster hunters themselves, now turned. If members of Eclipse are seen outside of the Wilds, they usually go under the guise of a normal bounty or monster hunter.

To keep up the guise of normalcy, Eclipse members will take contracts to hunt monsters, but with much hesitation. However, it is an opportunity for them to track the monster down and convince them to start a new life within refuge with no bloodshed involved.
